From October 8 through October 11, 2014, in the city of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, the 22nd annual Scientific Congress of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery took place. Georgia was represented by the Talizi Hair Transplant Clinic delegation, which included head of the clinic, Prof. Akaki Tsilosani, leading surgeons Vazha Vadachkoria and Eka Kandiashvili, and head of training programs, Salome Vadachkoriya.
The fact that the symposium was carried out in Kuala Lumpur was especially pleasant for our delegation. For two years, the Talizi clinic has performed visiting hair transplant surgeries and conducted training programs in Malaysia. Our team had visited Kuala Lumpur several times throughout the year, and we already had a lot of friends and colleagues there.
The congress was of big interest because of innovative subjects: Questions of natural biological aging of hair and application of stem cells in transplantology in the future were considered; research in the field of possible utilization of new medicines intended for treatment of the androgenic alopecia were discussed; the invited experts considered the efficiency of various methods of hair transplantation and presented their experience and scientific vision.
Representatives of the Talizi clinic, as in previous years, were actively involved in the training programs presented during the symposium. The director of the clinic, Akaki Tsilosani, was invited as an expert. He presented his solutions of problems during large-scale hair transplants, giga sessions, and application of the combined technique of hair transplantation, which were of great interest and brought about a large response. The report of the head of Talizi training programs, Salome Vadachkoria, concerned questions of effective distribution of time in the course of hair transplant surgeries.
The most positive moment of the symposium was a meeting with former students who had completed training in Talizi. This year, their number exceeds 20. It is pleasant to realize that most of our students have begun successful surgical practice in the field of hair transplantology, and some of them have become honorary members of the International Society of Surgeons Transplantologists of Hair.
Prof. Akaki Tsilosani attended the meeting as an honorary member of the International Society of Surgeons Transplantologists of Hair of Asia. Plans and strategies of development were considered in the meeting.
